Oxalis truncatula
Information
Fynbos Sorrel
OOXALIS TRUNCATULA
Hairyback Sorrel
Oxalis truncatula, the Hairyback Sorrel,
graces the rocky outcrops on the mountain with its silky mauve flowers and
hairy yellow tubes in early autumn.
This photo was taken in the morning, before the sun came
over the mountain. The flowers were still waiting for some warmth before
opening.
Even when closed, the plant caught our eye with its
leathery, hairy leaves.
HABITAT
Oxalis truncatula is found on mountain slopes,
growing in rocky soil.
