Lanaria lanata is an evergreen, tufted perennial plant native to the fynbos belt along the southern coast of South Africa. 
Common Names: Cape edelweiss, lambtails. Afrikaans Names: Perdekapok, kapokblom 
Key Details
Appearance: Grows up to 80 cm tall with stiff, narrow leaves and densely woolly white flower stalks.
Flowers: Small, star-shaped, mauve to pink, and honey-scented.
Habitat: Found on clay and sandstone mountain slopes from the Western Cape to the Eastern Cape.
Fire Adaptation: Flowering is heavily stimulated by fire, after which the blooms look like snow on the mountain slopes.
